Brief/Problem

The biggest mistake a language learning student can make is relying on Google Translate. How can Duolingo help them realize this error?

Solution

On Teacher's Day, we aimed to teach learners a memorable lesson about the dangers of using Google Translate. We launched a live stream on YouTube and Instagram, showcasing translation fails and making learners repent by writing 'I will not use Google Translate'.

We took the campaign offline by turning blackboards into billboards across India, where learners publicly pledged to stop using Google Translate.
